TWO local fundraisers tackled the virtual London Marathon via the Wharfedale Valley on October 4.
Antony Butcher and Lizzie Blowey were officially started by Antony’s mum, who lives with Multiple Sclerosis, at Burley Hall Care home. They then walked to Bolton Abbey and back, crossing the virtual finish line in the middle of Burley-in-Wharfedale after nearly 10 hours. The pair were hard to miss in bright orange t-shirts and tutus.
The pair have already raised well over £1,000, adding to the £20,000 they have already raised for a number of different charities.
Antony said: “This year has been challenging for so many people, and so it’s great to feel like we’ve found a way to do something positive to support the life-changing work of the MS Society.”
Lizzie added: “We were so lucky with the weather last weekend and it was wonderful to be able to do the walk around Ilkley and Bolton Abbey.”
