AN "eagle-eyed" schoolboy, who has ambitions of joining the police, spotted a car which had been stolen from university student housing.

West Yorkshire Police's Steerside Enforcement Team - which is dedicated to tackling anti-social and dangerous driving - found a white Mercedes in the Heaton area of Bradford at around 6.50pm today.

It was thanks to a tip-off from a youngster.

A police check showed the Mercedes had been stolen from student housing over in Leeds earlier this month.

The car was recovered for CSI (Crime Scene Investigation).

The schoolboy who spotted the car wants to be a police officer when he grows up, according to a West Yorkshire Police spokesperson.

The spokesperson added: "Stolen vehicle recovered this evening in the Heaton area of Bradford West.

"Had been stolen from student housing over in Leeds earlier this month.

"Another one for CSI.

"Spotted by an eagle-eyed schoolboy who wants to be an officer when he grows up.
