A MAN is in hospital with serious injuries after being stabbed and attacked by a group of men in Bradford yesterday.

It was reported yesterday evening that there was a police and ambulance presence in the Clayton Road and Hollingwood Lane area.

This morning, West Yorkshire Police confirmed that a man was stabbed on Beckside Road after being attacked by a group of men.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "Police are investigating a report of a stabbing on Beckside Road, Bradford at around 6.30pm yesterday.

"A male sustained a stab wound in the incident after being attacked by a group of men.

"He remains in hospital with serious injuries.

"Detectives are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with information to contact police on 101, quoting crime reference 13200488834."

One local resident claimed he heard that an altercation started in the Cemetery Road area, before continuing towards Clayton Road.

Another local resident said: "I didn't see the incident - I asked a police officer about it, who said they couldn't say much, but that an assault had happened.

"I'm worried for mine and my children's safety, but the police officer said that there's nothing to worry about and that they have surveillance in the area."

  • An earlier version of this story contained a quote from a resident suggesting the incident might have started in the Second West pub. We have been asked by the pub to point out that this was not the case and nobody involved in the incident had been in the pub.
