Sept 17: A "FALSE sense of security" has led to an increase in COVID-19 infection rates for wards taken out of the Bradford district local lockdown, the Leader of Bradford Council has claimed.

Council leader, Coun Susan Hinchcliffe, said: “Some of the places which have been taken out of local restrictions are now amongst the highest infected in the district – notably Silsden, Steeton, Bingley, Shipley and Windhill. I worry that coming out of local restrictions has given people in these places a false sense of security."

Sept 15: A KEIGHLEY campaign group is lobbying to remove the Bradford district's local lockdown restrictions in the town.

Around 200 residents have signed up to the Facebook group Get Keighley Out of Local Lockdown and its members are lobbying Keighley and Ilkley MP Robbie Moore to justify why Keighley wards are in local lockdown while other nearby wards with similar or higher cases have had the lockdown lifted.

Aug 29: SENIOR members of Bradford Council have accused the Government and local Conservative MPs of “political bias” and only lifting tighter restrictions “if you have a Tory MP”.

Just nine wards of the district have been released from the measures, meaning thousands are still subject to the restrictions imposed last month to curb the spread of Covid-19.
