PEOPLE have been warned to stay away from a partially collapsed house in which a sleeping man died.

Structural engineers are examining the property in Knights Fold to see if it is safe.

They will be trying to pinpoint the cause of the accident. Photos clearly show damage to the roof at one end of the property.

It is not clear if the chimney has collapsed, although that would be among the most dangerous of structural faults to a roof.

The heavy weight of collapsing masonry chimneys can be fatal if they fall onto occupants.

Meanwhile, the family living next door have been moved out and will be rehoused for the time being.

A 47-year-old man died after the roof collapsed into the bedroom of the house in the early hours of the morning.

A 28-year-old woman was taken to hospital for treatment to non-life-threatening injuries and three children were unharmed.

A Police spokesman said: “The family of the adjoining house will be rehoused and authorities are working to support everyone involved in any way we can.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

“Road closures will be in place at the scene throughout the day as structural engineers, police and fire services continue our work there.”
