AN Extraordinary Meeting of Burley Parish Council will be held on Thursday, September 3 2020 at 7.30 pm to discuss its response to the Secretary of State’s invitation to make representations regarding the Sun Lane planning application.

Due to current Covid restrictions, all Parish Council meetings are now being held over a video conferencing platform. Access to this meeting can be requested by emailing the Parish Clerk clerk@burleyparishcouncil.co.uk from Monday, August 24. A notice will also be posted on the Council board outside of Queens Hall.

The highly controversial planning application to build 500 homes and a school on green belt land at Sun Lane in the village was subject to a judicial review against the Secretary of State’s decision to refuse the application.

The courts ruled the Secretary of State did not give sufficiently good reasons for refusing the application and have referred the decision back to the Secretary of State for a redetermination.

The Secretary of State has asked interested parties to make representations.
