OAKWORTH Community Trust is seeking volunteers to join its board of trustees who oversee the running of Oakworth Village Hall.

The trust, which exists to run the former Holden Hall on Colne Road, is owned and managed entirely by a small but dedicated team of volunteers .

Trust secretary Luke Maunsell said there were a number of exciting opportunities for local people on the board.

He said: “The Operations Director is responsible for chairing the operations committee and leading the day-to-day operation of the building within the agreed terms of reference..

“Health and Safety Director is a new board position, and will be responsible for chairing the H&S Committee including recommending terms of reference for wider board approval. The H&S Director will be the board’s ‘go to’ person for all health and safety matters.”

Anyone interested in applying for either vacancy should write to finance director Rob Green, stating their suitability for the position, by emailing him on rob@oakworthcommunitytrust.org.uk.

The closing date for applications is August 31 this year, and both appointments will be made at the September board meeting.

People can also contact Rob for an informal discussion about either vacancy.

Oakworth Community Trust recently encouraged more people to sign up for the highly successful lottery that raises money towards the hall. Over the past few years more than £1,000 has been won by local people, with half of proceeds going on prizes and half on the hall.

Money from the lottery has contributed to the hall’s new much-needed extension, security systems, and current renovations which will provide disabled access.
