MARIE Curie are asking Wharfedale and Aireborough residents to strap on their walking boots.

The terminal illness charity wants people across the county to sign up to Walk Yorkshire - a new fundraising campaign.

The initiative will see how many times, collectively, the participants can walk the 450 mile distance of the perimeter of Yorkshire during August.

Each Walk Yorkshire walker can set their own target distance and clock up their miles individually, before adding those into the overall Walk Yorkshire team total.

Every step that the team takes will help Marie Curie offer vital care and support to local people and families living with a terminal illness. Yorkshire Fundraising Manager Liz Howlett said: “By joining the Walk Yorkshire team this August, helping to raise vital funds by stepping out but hopefully having fun at the same time, every single one of our walkers will be helping us to be there for more people and families.”
