SOME free summer fun is coming to communities across Leeds - including Aireborough.

Leeds City Council has not been able to run its usual Breeze activity programme this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

But now Breeze, after what it described as an extremely challenging past few months for parents, carers and children, has announced that the Greatest Breeze Show will be touring and bringing something magical to local families.

The family friendly acts will include the likes of magician Suitcase Pete and Craig Zoo.

The tour will run for 16 days across 16 venues and will include family friendly variety shows with singing, comedy, dance, magic and fun entertainment.

The venues are spread across Leeds with the different shows taking place between Monday, August 10 and Friday, August 28.

Yeadon will get in on the action on Wednesday, August 26 when the Greatest Breeze Show comes to Yeadon Tarn, off Cemetery Road.

Executive Member for Children and Families, Councillor Fiona Venner, said: “The COVID-19 pandemic has been an enormous challenge for people of all ages, including our city’s remarkable young people.

“This fabulous, fun and free show will have something for all the family and will be welcomed by those in need of some light relief after an incredibly difficult few months.”

Each show will last for 60 minutes and each venue will have three shows; starting at 1pm, 2:45pm and 4:30pm.

The performances will fully adhere to social distancing rules and follow the latest government guidance.

Visiting families will be asked to sit in their own ‘marked zone’ where they need to stay throughout the show, with no moving around between the zones except to go to the toilet.

Families will also be asked to bring their own picnic blankets or camping chairs to sit on, while hand sanitising stations will be provided.

Other public health safety measures that will be in place include:

*Socially distanced queuing for families as they gather to enter the venue

*The use of a one way system, with entrances and exits at different places

*A prohibition on audiences shouting or singing, in line with government guidance.

Booking tickets is essential and each booking should be made by individual families so that the data collected is in line with national rules for the NHS’ Test and Trace system.

Tickets are free and are available now, with each ticket admitting one family of up to five people.
