A SHOP assistant has raised more than £750 for Teenage Cancer Trust by busking outside store where he works.
Billy Igoe-Mitchell has been keeping customers entertained outside Yeadon’s Aldi as they queued because of coronavirus. His efforts has brought the total raised by staff and customers at the store to £1,100 - helping the chain to reach its £5 million target for the charity.
Fritz Walleczek, from Aldi UK, said he was “immensely proud” of the lengths staff had gone to across the country to support them.
“The care and guidance Teenage Cancer Trust provides young people who are in such a difficult situation is invaluable and we’re all looking forward to continuing to support them as they carry on this vital work,” he said.
This week until Friday, July 24 customers can “Tweet Their Receipt”, by taking a photo of their receipt, and tweeting it to @AldiUK. Aldi will round up the total amount of the shop to the nearest pound with a donation to Teenage Cancer Trust of up to £10,000. For example, if a shopper spends £12.46, Aldi will donate 54p.
