AN OTLEY author will give a free online talk this week.

Heather Dawe’s High Inspiration describes the adventures that she had while running around the Tour de Mont Blanc - a classic mountain tour in the heart of the Alps - in 2014.

The book also features illustrations of some of the scenes the author saw during that summer along with reflections on how mountains have inspired runners, climbers, writers and artists.

Heather will talk about how the book came into being, and read excerpts from it, between 7pm and 8pm on Thursday, July 16.

The event follows an earlier online talk Heather gave about her latest book, A Cycling Year, in June.

Little Peak Press, meanwhile - an independent publishing company which Heather helps run - has launched a kickstarter to fund its next book, 22,000 Miles.

The book is described ‘the story of a father and son’s incredible cycling adventures around the UK and beyond’. It describes the many routes that Richard Seipp and his son, Tom, have ridden together over the last ten years.

The pair began by cycling around their home in the Peak District but their appetite for new adventures soon grew and they have now cycled through wild and mountainous places around the world including Europe, the Scottish Highlands and North America.
