ILKLEY Choral Society members came together to sing their thanks to the NHS on its 72nd anniversary.
On Sunday, July 5 at 5pm and just as rain clouds burst over the town, a small group of
socially distanced singers from Ilkley Choral Society struck up a medley of songs in
celebration of the foundation of the NHS. Opening with a bold rendition of ‘Jerusalem’, they continued with old favourites such as ‘Somewhere over the rainbow’, ‘You’ll never walk alone’ and, appropriately ‘Singin’ in the rain’.
The singers were delighted when a small, appreciative audience was joined by two carers
who happened to be on duty in the vicinity.
Thus thanks were expressed to this group of
selfless people, our care workers, as well as to our wonderful NHS.
