TWO Aireborough groups have welcomed new leaders.
Raj Mani has been appointed as the new President of Aireborough Rotary Club and was seen receiving his chain and ribbons of office online, via Zoom.
He has hit the ground running and has already introduced a flourishing Tuesday yoga class and welcomed one of the club’s mentors, Francis Riley, as a Friend of Rotary.
Raj said he hopes to see this type of beginners’ class introduced more widely in the community.
He added: “Like all clubs, Aireborough will have to re-set its fundraising aims and efforts given the cancellations the pandemic has caused.”
Raj is set to soon sign an agreement on the club’s behalf with the Madras Chennaipattna Rotary Club in India.
He believes that will enable the Aireborough group to learn from a relatively young club that is ‘full of entrepreneurs’.
His wife, Bagshur, meanwhile is part of the club’s members team which has been working to produce essential Personal Protective Equipment.
Aireborough Inner Wheel Club has also had two recent reasons to celebrate.
The group has appointed Anne Parker as its new President and has also seen its outgoing Chair, Pat Mirfield, become the Inner Wheel District Chair for the coming year.
Pat was presented with the gift of a rose, in Inner Wheel colours, for her first day in office.
