A FORMER TV technician and NHS worker has taken on a new challenge - running his own oven valeting business across Leeds North West.

Dean Chew had worked as a sub-contractor for the then-owner of Ovenu Leeds North West, Richard Greenwood, before the coronavirus outbreak but always had his heart on having his own business.

Unable to clean ovens during the lockdown, he instead used his previous experience as an NHS orthopaedic plaster technician to work for York and Scarborough Hospital Trust for 12 weeks.

Now he has completed the franchisee training that he needed via video-link and, with COVID-19 restrictions easing, is looking forward to becoming his own boss.

He said: “As a sub-contractor the thought of having my own franchise one day always spurred me on; this is a massive move for me and a huge opportunity.”

The franchise’s area includes Horsforth, Yeadon, Ilkley, Guiseley and Otley.
