AMPLE space to explore, a new natural outdoor play area, a previously unseen exhibition in the House by acclaimed British artist Kate MccGwire and all the other beloved spaces, including the Bird Garden and Walled Garden – Harewood House & Gardens is open to visitors from July 20.

As lockdown continues to ease, the house is the latest space to open to visitors, whilst the gardens have been enjoyed by the wider public since July 6, and members were thanked for their ongoing support of the charity with priority access from June 25.

Edward Appleyard, Director of Engagement said: “We are so pleased that we are moving towards opening the House before the end of the month, this is great news.

“The past months have presented many challenges for the charity, but also generated some good opportunities for Harewood in the way that we work.

“We launched new daily content online throughout lockdown as part of our Harewood At Home series, in addition to launching our first fundraising Appeal for the Bird Garden, which raised just under £10,000.

“The first few weeks of reopening have been extremely positive, and we’re delighted to see people enjoying the space again with their families and friends.”

A new exhibition in the House presents the work of acclaimed British sculptor Kate MccGwire, as her work with bird feathers echoes the celebrations around the 50th anniversary of the Harewood Bird Garden.

Whilst many events were cancelled, Luna Cinema Drive-In has just announced 14 dates of cinema screenings from August 4 and a series of special events will be announced in the next week.
