RECORDINGS of local news have started to be delivered by Otley & District Talking Newspaper again.
The charity (OTN) usually reads and records articles from the Wharfedale & Aireborough Observer at its recording studio and then sends out USB sticks to blind or partially sighted residents. For the past few months however, due to COVID-19, the group has been recording from home and uploading the recordings onto its website, its app and the British Wireless for the Blind site.
The system has been working well though some readers had to adopt unconventional techniques - including putting a duvet over themselves as they record to reduce ‘room echo’.
But some of the charity’s listeners do not have access to the Internet and OTN has been keen to start posting out their memory stick recordings again, which has now begun.
