THE UK’s tourism industry will need a package of support measures to help it recover from the coronavirus pandemic.

That is the view of MP Alex Sobel (Lab, Leeds North West), Labour’s Shadow Minister for Tourism and Heritage.

Mr Sobel says he has been talking to tourism bodies, businesses and workers over the past few weeks to fully understand the impact of COVID-19.

They have left him in no doubt that the sector is facing unprecedented challenges - and so needs a special stimulus to help it bounce back. The MP shared his thoughts in a recent edition of industry publication Travel Weekly, where he decribed the current situation as ‘the most difficult moment for domestic tourism in living memory’.
