ILKLEY’S MP Robbie Moore has taken to Parliament to thank the hard work and dedication that frontline Bradford Metropolitan District Council staff.

He praised the work they are doing for the whole constituency during these difficult times, with many drafted into local support groups like the Keighley Community Hub and Corona Response Team.

Since lockdown measures were introduced by the Government at the end of March, Bradford Council – like all councils – moved staff from services which were forced to close, like the leisure centre in Keighley, to other key departments including new community-based roles in response to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Following his speech in Parliamentary debate on COVID-19, Mr Moore said: “I thank from the bottom of my heart all the frontline council workers who have been working around the clock, night and day, to ensure that the District continues to operate with as much normality as possible.

“Thank you to all the refuse collectors who have continued to collect our waste on a weekly basis, our social workers who have continued to support vulnerable people and families and everyone else who has taken on a frontline role in helping people through this tough time.

“Since the outbreak of Coronavirus, I have been working closely with many local community groups including the Keighley Community Hub, a team coordinated by the Keighley Area team at Bradford Council.

“Many front-line council workers have been redeployed from their usual roles to help coordinate and deliver food parcels to vulnerable and self-isolating residents, and I thank them all very much.”
