A TRADE body representing the painting and decorating industry has issued West Yorkshire members with vital information to help them get back to work safely in customer’s homes.

The Painting and Decorating Association (PDA) has created a guidance document outlining safe protocols to manage the risks from COVID-19 for domestic projects. Risk assessments, social distancing and cleaning regimes have all been highlighted as top priorities, and to underpin the approach the PDA has also created supporting material to help members make informed decisions.

Neil Ogilvie, Chief Executive of the PDA, said: “Our guidance sets out the steps that members need to take to safely carry out their work, to reduce the risk of transmitting COVID-19.

“The PDA does not have the authority to tell people to go back to work, and it is important that each project is assessed on a case-by-case basis. Each job will be different and if our members feel that they cannot adhere to social distancing at that particular site, the work should not be carried out.”
