OTLEY Action for Older People has been inundated with hundreds of requests for help from self-isolating older people.
In the last three weeks the charity has helped more than 350 older people who are at risk of health complications and are following government advice to stay in.
The charity says it has also had a huge outpouring of support with offers of help from more than100 new volunteers, and assistance with the administration from Otley Courthouse.
Twenty volunteers are helping by phoning all 1,150 members to check on them. A recent call for donations led to more than £2,500 being donated, including a large sum from Sinclairs of Otley, to pay for food and other essential items. Any person aged 60 and over in LS21 who is in need of support can ring Otley Action for Older People on 01943 463965 during office hours.
