A CALL is being made for volunteers who can offer their time during the coronavirus pandemic.

#COVID19 Volunteer Community Response has been launched; as part of the scheme, Denbighshire Voluntary Services Council (DVSC) is working in partnership with all stakeholders to develop a responder scheme which is 'safe, effective and bolsters community spirit'.

Volunteers must be fit and healthy.

Helpers will be asked to help deliver food supplies and other provisions to the elderly and vulnerable in the community and to provide other forms of community support.

Those at home and self-isolating can help by being a phone buddy or a digital hero or heroine.

A spokesperson from Denbighshire County Council said: “We have been heartened by the voluntary action and community spirit being shown throughout the county, and it is already seeing online groups forming on Facebook in addition to existing local volunteer groups and third sector organisations. This voluntary action and community spirit is going to be crucial in the days, weeks and months that lie ahead.

“Now the county council and Denbighshire Voluntary Services Council are working together to co-ordinate requests.”

The roles will be dependent upon need in relation to the current #COVID19 public health emergency and as it develops.

People wishing to volunteer can register at www.dvsc.co.uk; e-mail covid19@dvsc.co.uk or telephone DVSC direct on 01824 702441.

Third Sector and voluntary organisations are also encouraged to register through the same contact details.
