TOWN Council meetings in Otley have now been suspended until further notice.
The decision was made at an Extraordinary Meeting of the council on Monday night.
A resolution was also approved to to delegate powers to the Executive Officer/Deputy Executive Officer during the coronavirus outbreak.
The council’s Otley Core offices on Orchard Gate had been still operating but have also now been closed following the introduction this week of a compulsory ‘lockdown’ on people’s movements in a bid to limit social contact.
The council’s staff will continue to answer telephone calls and be seeking to help residents while working from home.
The council has closed the public toilets it runs on Orchard Gate too, as part of the national effort to stop the spread of Covid-19.
