ILKLEY Film Society has suspended its current season, and there will be no more screenings at Ilkley Playhouse until it is safe to resume.

The decision has been taken with regret, but government guidelines about large gatherings and the recognition that many of the society’s members are in the age group most at risk from the Covid-19 virus have made it inevitable. The society’s parent organisation, Cinema For All, has advised all film societies in the UK to suspend their seasons immediately.

Also Ilkley Soul Club which holds events at the Hollygarth Social Club in Ilkley has cancelled forthcoming events.

Ian Smith of Ilkley Soul Club said: “We were due to hold an Ilkley Soul Club on Saturday 28 March but for obvious reasons have decided to cancel it.

“The next one is scheduled for Saturday 23 May but with things as they are this may be doubtful - we will take a decision on that in late April/ early May.”
