AN ANTI-RACISM rally will take place in Otley in March.
The event will be held in the Market Square on Saturday, March 21 and follows on from a successful 2019 rally.
It has been organised once more by community group Otley Welcomes and timed to tie in with the UN day for the elimination of Racial Discrimination.
The occasion will be used to remember all those who have lost their lives due to racial violence, as well as those who are facing discrimination today. Local choir leader Thanda Gumede will also be teaching those who attend a South African song to sing together in solidarity.
The rally, which runs from 5pm to 6pm and is suitable for children, will end with everyone forming a large circle and joining hands for a two minute silence.
More than 250 people, including Otley’s MP Alex Sobel (Lab, Leeds North West) and a number of councillors, attended last year’s event.
