A WHARFEDALE funeral directors is talking up the benefits of the Co-op Local Community Fund.
Otley Action for Older People (OAOP), Burley-in-Wharfedale Community Trust and Burley-in-Wharfedale Bowling Club have all successfully applied to the fund.
Otley Funeralcare is raising awareness of the work those groups do and Funeral Director Rob Tindall and administrator Sue Verity recently met OAOP representatives to discuss how the Co-op membership scheme would benefit the charity.
Mr Tindall said: “The scheme makes a huge difference at local level. For only £1 people can join and benefit from discounts on all Co-op products.
“That could range from using our services at the funeral home on Cross Green to shopping at the Co-op store in Burley.
“We also give one per cent of what people spend back to local charities who have been successful in their applications. All members have to do is choose the charity they would like to see benefit.”
Applications to the community fund open every six to 12 months.
