BURLEY Library’s new children’s area has been completed with the delivery of the final piece of furniture.
Over the past two years Burley Parish Council has overseen a major reinvestment in the building which houses the community library. Much of the internal work in the children’s area has been funded by donations.
A spokeswoman said: “Particular thanks are due to Burley in Wharfedale Community Trust through whom a substantial legacy was donated, the Burley Educational Trust, Ilkley Round Table, Dale Eddison and Burley Nursery School. On a more personal level, librarian Abi Skerrey, children’s organiser, Maddie Coelho, and Parish Councillor, Jan Lepley have all contributed a great deal of time and effort.”
She added: “At a time of cuts and reducing services, this is a beacon of sensible investment in our children.”
