THE OFFBEAT French comedy Jeune Femme is Ilkley Film Society’s next screening.

The film will be shown at 8pm on Sunday, March 1 at Ilkley Playhouse.

After being dumped by her boyfriend after ten years and locked out of their flat, 31-year-old Paula finds herself ,with her boyfriend’s cat, adrift in Paris and needing urgently to build a new life for herself. As she is chaotic, irresponsible and almost entirely lacking in adult life skills this is quite a challenge, especially when she manages to find employment as a live-in nanny.

Jeune Femme won first-time director Leonor Serraille the Camera D’Or for best debut feature at the Cannes Film Festival, and Laetitia Dosch received five awards at international festivals for her performance as Paula, a character who may divide the audience’s sympathy – is she a charming free spirit battling a repressive world or a self-destructive mess to be avoided?
