SOME of Otley’s youngest citizens have been helping to keep the town clean.
Pupils from All Saints C of E Primary school donned high visibility jackets as they set off for a recent litter pick on the Cambridge Estate.
Teacher Vicki Binks, who organised the event, was impressed by the children’s enthusiasm. She said: “Our Global Champions are a group of children who are helping us all to recognise and work towards the Sustainable Development Goals.
“They are passionate about finding ways that we can have a positive impact on our local environment and beyond.”
Councillor Mick Bradley (Green, Danefield) provided the Town Council equipment for the litter pick and joined the event. He said: “While the town council does regular litter picks across Otley we still collected many discarded plastic bottles, cans, cardboard and wrappers - much of which can now be recycled thanks to the efforts of the children.”
