NAHKI Wells has been nominated for Championship player of the month in the EFL's January shortlists, which also include three other former Bantams.

Phil Parkinson and Darren Moore are contenders for the League One manager of the month prize, while Newport's Michael Flynn is in the running for the League Two accolade.

Wells scored five goals for loan club QPR in just three games in January, including a hat-trick against Cardiff and the winner against Leeds United.

He ended the month by signing for Bristol City from Burnley for around £5m.

After a difficult start to his reign on Wearside, former Bantams boss Parkinson is turning Sunderland's fortunes round to leave them on the brink of the League One play-offs.

He made the bold call to drop Aiden McGeady, instilled a togetherness in his squad and led them to 14 points and a 10-2 goal differential from six unbeaten games during January.

Moore's Doncaster Rovers side seem to have been playing fixture catch-up all season, but with six games yielding 13 points and just two goals conceded thanks to his defensive knowledge, this was the month in which they joined the promotion race.

Former City midfielder Flynn didn’t panic during the most barren run of his managerial career to date. His reward for patience as injuries healed was 10 points from five games for County, the comparative luxury of seven goals and a climb back towards the play-off places.

Also in League Two, former Guiseley goalkeeper Jonathan Maxted is nominated for Exeter City.

A series of superb stops, including a penalty save, preserved the 1-0 win at Forest Green, one of four clean sheets in the month for Maxted, who was at his shot-stopping best against Grimsby as well as marshalling the Exeter back-line.

Crawley Town's Ollie Palmer, who scored both goals against the Bantams in their 2-1 win, is also on the player of the month short-list with six goals in five games.
