TALENTED pooches are being sought to play starring roles in a production of Legally Blonde the Musical.

Rehearsals for BrassNeck Theatre’s 2020 production at Yeadon Town Hall are now well underway - but the cast is still lacking two canine Thespians.

Now auditions are being planned to find dogs to play Bruiser and Rufus.

Emma Fearnley, who will take the lead as Elle Woods, still needs a four-legged friend to star alongside her.

She said: “Bruiser is often the star of the show and it really will be such a brilliant opportunity and enormous fun for both the dog and its human family.”

BrassNeck Theatre is now searching for its very own ‘Bruiser Woods’ – typically a Chihuahua. Would-be Bruisers should preferably have stage experience and be available for rehearsals and the week of the show. The dog’s owner should also be available for the same time.

Organisers also need another pet for the show to take the part of Rufus - often played by a British Bulldog type dog. They also need to attend rehearsals with their owner and be available for the entire week as Paulette Bounofontte’s furry friend.

The production will be staged from May 12 to May 16 at Yeadon Town Hall. For all ticket enquiries contact the box office at www.brassnecktheatre.com or call 0113 250 5011.

The group, directed by Royston Bayfield with musical director, Tom Kyle, are looking forward to another successful show following their production of Sunset Boulevard last year.

Based on the movie, Legally Blonde The Musical, follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes, snobbery, and scandal in pursuit of her dreams.

A spokeswoman said: “This action-packed musical explodes on the stage with memorable songs and dynamic dances. Equal parts hilarious and heart-warming, this musical is so much fun it should be illegal.

“Legally Blonde The Musical will take you from the sorority house to the halls of justice with Broadway’s brightest new heroine -and of course, her chihuahua, Bruiser.

“Based on the adored movie, Legally Blonde The Musical stays true to form with a peppy score and playful book. This musical is ridiculously enjoyable from start to finish.”
