OTLEY Beer Festival is celebrating raising more than £100,000 for good causes.

The event has been raising money for, and presenting it to, the Parish Church plus a variety of charities and community groups since 2002. Another £7,000 was generated last November, taking the total to £105,600.

The 2019 proceeds were shared out at a recent presentation evening by festival Chair Jeff Utley MBE. He presented cheques to representatives from the Motor Neurone Disease Association; Martin House Children’s Hospice; Otley Parish Church Scouts; and Otley All Saints’ Parish Church.

Mr Utley hailed passing the £100,000 mark as ‘quite an achievement for what was initially intended to be a one-off event’. He expressed his gratitude to the organising committee and ‘the many festival helpers from the church and local community, the sponsors, and those who just turned out to have an enjoyable weekend’.
