KEIGHLEY people seeking to shed weight and gain fitness are being offered a New Year cut-price deal by Bradford Council.

Residents are being encouraged to sign-up this month for ClubActive membership, which gives people the chance to swim, attend fitness classes and use the gym at council venues including Keighley Leisure Centre.

Anyone taking out a 12-month contract will pay £22 a month.

Without a contract the cost will be £27.50 per month, or an annual payment of £239.

New members are given a full induction, including instruction on how to use the equipment.

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, the council's executive member for healthy people and places, said: "We all over-indulge during the Christmas and New Year period and this can make us feel really sluggish.

"We hope this offer will give residents the incentive to get active, stick to their resolutions and have a healthier and happier New Year.

"There is a whole range of programmes and sessions available at our gyms and pools, so we are sure that everyone will be able to find an activity that fits in with their lifestyle and that they will enjoy."
