THE ROAD between Pool-in-Wharfedale and Huby has reopened following a serious crash.

The accident happened near Huby at about 1pm on Wednesday, January 8 on the A658 between Castley Lane and Riffa Business Park.

It involved a collision between a silver Honda Civic, travelling from Pool-in-Wharfedale towards Harrogate, and a green Mercedes HGV which was travelling towards Pool.

The driver of the car was admitted to Harrogate District Hospital with serious injuries while the lorry driver was uninjured.

The road was closed following the accident to allow the scene to be examined and eventually reopened at 4.50pm.

North Yorkshire Police (NYP) thanked motorists for their patience as the closure resulted in a long diversion.

The force is appealing to anyone who saw the crash to get in touch. A NYP spokesperson said: "We are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the incident."
