CHARITIES and community groups looking to recruit new volunteers in the new year are being urged to remember to use a free website called Volunteering Ilkley.

Volunteering Ilkley was launched in May 2019 as a result of a consultation exercise with representatives from the Ilkley voluntary and community sector that identified a need to promote volunteering in order to sustain and develop the voluntary sector and the support it provides locally.

The website - www.volunteeringilkley.org.uk - provides a simple way of promoting volunteer roles for Ilkley and District in one, easy to use place.

Organisations which are using the site to advertise their roles will automatically be promoted at forthcoming outreach activities being planned by Lorraine Greenald, Volunteering Development Worker.

“The website is very straightforward to use,” said Lorraine. “If you are a local group with volunteer opportunities, you can register on the website.

“Once your registration has been approved, you can then add details of your volunteer roles.

“I want to promote the site more widely in the next few months so if your role is listed it should get seen by anyone interested in volunteering.”

It is intended that groups use the website independently but if you need some extra initial assistance, please get in touch with Lorraine who will help you to register and create listings for your roles. Email: lorraine@cabad.org.uk

Lorraine added: “If one of your New Year resolutions is to get more involved locally, why not check out Volunteering Ilkley to find out what volunteering opportunities are out there and look out for details of forthcoming events where you can come along and have a chat with about volunteering in general.”

Organisations currently advertising for volunteers on the website include Ilkley Good Neighbours who require a Shop Assist Volunteer, Wharfedale Scouts, who require a volunteer Camp Warden and Ilkley Moor Medical Centre which is looking to recruit volunteers walkers.
