A WHARFEDALE craft company has celebrated opening its new premises with a three day fundraiser.

Quilting Smiles, which used to provide its patchwork and quilting classes at locations around Ilkley, is now based at Farnley Business Park, near Otley.

The business recently marked the occasion by holding a fundraiser that was supported by nearly 30 of its students who made 37 fabric washbags over three days.

The bags were then filled with donated toiletries and other essentials to make gifts for a local women’s refuge.

Yvette Redding of Quilting Smiles said: “What a fantastic way to celebrate moving into our new premises - three busy days of sewing to create beautiful wash-bags for a very worthy cause. We are very proud and grateful for all the hard work.

“Quilting Smiles provided the fabric and zips and our talented stitchers provided their time, expertise and donations of toiletries to fill the bags. It was very exciting to be working in our new fully equipped studio at last!

“Our new premises mean we can offer even more courses and workshops and a wider range of quality cotton fabrics and sewing equipment.”

The company was established by Yvette in 2016.
