OTLEY’S pubs have been praised for making an ‘immense’ effort for the Victorian Fayre.

Many of the town’s licensees and their teams dressed in period costume and decorated their inns to support the event on Sunday, December 1.

Otley Pub Club judges were out inspecting the participants and agreed that the top prize - the Elise Brumfitt Victorian Alehouse Award - should go to The Junction Inn. The Whitakers Arms took second place with the Black Bull coming in third, while the Stew and Oyster and Black Horse were both Highly Commended.

And the Best Individual Costume award went to Joanne Berry and baby Aurora at Whitakers.

Pub Club President Greg Mulholland said: “It was an exceptional Victorian Fayre and the effort made by Otley’s famous pubs was immense. The standard of entries for the Elise Brumfitt Victorian Ale House award was very high.

“Congratulations to all pubs who took part this year and especially to The Junction.”
