LEEDS City Council is inviting operators of heavy goods vehicles and non-scheduled buses and coaches to apply for grants to prepare for the planned Clean Air Charging Zone.

Earlier this year, the council secured government funding to help owners of affected vehicles switch to less polluting vehicles. More than £6 million of support has already been provisionally approved for affected businesses.In the third funding round applications are now open until December 13 for owners of heavy goods vehicles and non-scheduled buses and coaches to apply for grants of up to £16,000 to upgrade or retrofit their vehicles.

The director of resources and housing Neil Evans said:”This funding will help owners of affected vehicles switch to less polluting models that won’t be charged.”
