A NUMBER of Northern trains have been suspended between Ilkley and Bradford Forster Square due to a fallen tree.

The tree is on the line at Guiseley but has caused knock-on effects to services from Ilkley to Leeds.

A spokesperson for Northern said all train services running through these stations may be cancelled or delayed with disruption expected until 3pm today.

A statement read: "A fallen tree has affected the overhead lines at Springs Junction. As a result there are no services between Leeds/Bradford Forster Square and Ilkley. Customers are advised to travel to Shipley to connect with rail replacement buses to Ilkley.

"Direct services between Leeds and Ilkley and between Bradford Forster Sq and Ilkley are suspended.

"Network Rail staff are expected to site at approximately 11.15 to remove the tree."

Northern is arranging replacement transport between Shipley and Ilkley.
