A CHARITY walk in Addingham has been hailed a success by organisers after raising more than £2,000.

Addingham Amble was organised by Totally Locally Addingham and took place on Sunday, September 15.

The event, in its third year, raises money for the Alzheimer’s Society, with many walkers taking part in memory of a loved one.

This year the event raised a magnificent £2,034.

There were three walks for varying levels of ability from the ‘Dingham Dawdle’ around the village, a medium walk of around two miles incorporating a treasure hunt and a longer walk to Beamsley Beacon and back.

Totally Locally committee member Jan Garth said: “We are delighted with the success of this year’s event.

“Although we were slightly down on the number of walkers, we were up on sponsorship; people have been so generous and we would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone involved, particularly Catherine Coates, Chair of Addingham Parish Council and Gill Batterbee of Addingham Environmental Group who put the routes together and to her helpers who marshalled the routes ensuring people were able to cross roads safely.”

Totally Locally Addingham would also like to express thanks to o sponsors: IST UK Ltd; Muirhead Dental Health; J T Podiatry & Chiropody; Mastachoice Fencing & Fabrication Services; The Plantation, Addingham and Lucy Hall - Help @ Home.

The prize for the most sponsorship collected by one person was awarded to Kathryn Beanlands with second place awarded to Mr P Nicholls.
