DRIVERS faced major traffic problems on Manchester Road this afternoon after a man was hit by a bus.
The man suffered a serious head and leg injury in the incident at 4.25pm, but police said he was conscious and breathing before he was taken to hospital.
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance was called to the scene, on the dedicated bus lane, near to the junction of Parkside Road, and left at 5pm.
The crash involved a blue double-decker First West Yorkshire bus travelling southbound on Manchester Road.
The air ambulance landed and took off from the Emsley (Alfred) Memorial Recreation Ground at the top of Manchester Road.
However, a West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said the man, in his 20s, was taken to hospital by road ambulance.
