AN Ilkley artist, Den Ledgerwood, is one of six local professional artists chosen to feature on the Big Screen, in City Park, Bradford, in a themed presentation of artwork to be shown daily at 12.30pm throughout November and December. The theme is ‘A Celebration of Winter’ and the featured artists all present their interpretation of the changing season.

Den likes to experiment with mixed media, using pencil, ink, oil pastel and weaving, and her work has been exhibited widely in solo, group and open exhibitions across the region, including at the Ilkley Art Trail. She has also had teaching experience in local schools and colleges.

Art supporter, Colin Neville, from Silsden, who curates the website Not Just Hockney, organises the bi-monthly displays of local artists’ work on the Big Screen in association with Bradford UNESCO City of Film. He said: “The great thing about art is that it encourages us look at everyday scenes with new eyes and to see the beauty in them – even in the snow and rain of winter. Den’s abstract paintings are full of energy and colour and will be writ large and brilliant on the Big Screen.”

Another Big Screen artist with work that appears publicly across the district is the window artist, Jenny Tribillon. Jenny came to England from France over 10 years ago and now lives in Shipley. Her window painting for local shops and other buildings is the main focus of her current work, although she also paints wall murals and supports children in schools with art projects. Seasonal scenes are an important feature of her window paintings. Other artists featured on the screen are Paula Dunn, Barry Langroyd Hanson, Bob Barker and June Russell, all from the Bradford area.
