SOUTH Craven performing arts school Expressions plans to take its youngsters to Edinburgh Fringe Festival next year to give live performances.

The school will return to the Scottish capital after taking pupils from its Cross Hills, Skipton and Bingley classes to the Fringe last summer to watch some of its theatre shows.

The school recently celebrated its first birthday, with leader Rachael Delaney saying youngsters had achieved a great amount during the year.

She said: "Students have performed live showcases, taken part in competitive speech and drama festivals, taken Trinity London Examinations and had an amazing trip to the Fringe

"Working with our sister company Northern Talent, we have also managed to provide students with television appearances working as supporting artists and also as featured characters.

"We are looking forward to the year ahead when more of our students will experience being in front of the camera.

"We are now working towards taking two shows to the Fringe Festival. Our senior drama students will be taking a play written and devised by themselves, and our musical theatre students will take Hairspray."

Expressions recently introduced a musical theatre class on Tuesdays in Glusburn, and its students will audition for Hairspray in early November.
