A YEADON teenager has signed a two-year scholarship deal with Bradford City.

Sam Bentley, 15, is one of six new youth academy prospects to be signed by the club. Sam started playing football for Guiseley Juniors at the age of six and has spent time at Leeds United and Huddersfield Town academies before joining Bradford in 2017.

He said: “Just to play for a football academy is a privilege but to be offered the chance to progress on a pathway to professional football at the same time as continuing my studies is a dream opportunity for which I’m very grateful.”

Sam’s dad Graham Bentley said he and his wife Rachel were both very proud of their son and added:”There’s only a small number offered each year so it is a huge achievement.”

City’s academy manager, Neil Matthews, said: “These boys have shown great desire, work ethic and consistency in their performances and fully deserve this opportunity.”
