A WELLNESS event for people over 60 will take place in Ilkley next week to highlight the wealth of health services, sports and leisure facilities available to older people living in the LS29 area.

LS29Wellness4U has been organised by The Valley Clinic, in conjunction with Stuart Hyde, the U3A and the Clarke Foley Centre. It takes place on Wednesday, October 23from 2pm to 4pm at the Clarke Foley Centre, Cunliffe Road, Ilkley LS29 9DZ.

It is a free community event aimed at the over 60s. The idea is to bring together a variety of local therapies, businesses, charities and community groups who promote a proactive approach to physical and mental health and wellbeing.

Organiser Liz Blizzard said: “Rather than just handing out leaflets and answering questions, each participating organization has been asked to provide valuable and relevant information through an interactive experience.

“The idea is to educate people in a fun and inspiring way. Learning will take place through, games, challenges, puzzles and activities. There will even be some prizes.”

Stuart Hyde added: “This is a fantastic opportunity to discover the wide range of services and activities available locally to improve wellness.

“Visitors can ask, see, test and try many services. Come on down and taste some of the healthy treats available in the Clarke Foley Café. Try an e-bike, test what you know about a healthy diet or power of attorney. You’ll be impressed by the help and services ready and willing to help you from all sectors and, of course, all in one place”

The plan is for LS29Wellness4U to become an annual event.
