THE WASHBURN and Mid Wharfe Benefice has a new Rector.
The institution and induction of Reverend Stephen McCaulay was conducted by the Bishop of Leeds, the Rt Revd Nicholas Baines on Friday, October 11. The ceremony was held at St Michael and St Lawrence Church, Fewston and also involved Jonathan Gough, the Archdeacon of Richmond and Craven and John Smith, Area Dean of Harrogate.
A United Benefice of Washburn and Mid-Wharfe spokesperson said: “It was a special service where oaths were signed, keys exchanged and the bells were rung.
“There were more than 100 people present, most staying for a supper which was provided by members of all the Benefice churches - Fewston, Blubberhouses, Farnley, Leathley, Weston and Denton.”
A collection of £505 was taken and will be used by the Diocese to support churches overseas.
