A YOUNG woman is still in shock as she recovered at home tonight, after suffering multiple stab wounds in what police believe to be a "targeted attack."

The woman, in her 20s, was taken to hospital after the incident, which reportedly happened at about 3am this morning on Musgrave Road, Fagley.

When the Telegraph & Argus visited the scene earlier today, a relative revealed the woman had been stabbed four times in the street and described it as a "cowardly attack."

Her injuries included a wound to the neck, according to the family member, who did not wish to be named.

This evening, detectives in Bradford issued an appeal for witnesses, stating that the injuries were "consistent with stab wounds." Police said she attended hospital with non-life threatening injuries, but had since been discharged.

Detective Inspector Mark Taylor, of Bradford CID, said: "Our investigation remains ongoing and I would urge anyone who witnesses anything or has any information to come forward to the police.

"We believe this is a targeted attack and we have deployed enhanced high visibility patrols in the area to reassure residents."

The family member told the T&A that the woman was recovering and in a state of shock.

The relative added that the attack had been carried out by a man.

Officers were at the scene for most of the morning and into the early afternoon.

There was also a cordon in place, beginning where the road meets Musgrave Drive and ending at its junction with Moorside Road. This was removed at around 1:01pm.

The relative said: "She’s in pain and we’re scared as to what’s happened.

"It’s not her problem. It’s been brought to her and it was cowardly - he stabbed her four times."

They added that the suspect came to the victim to find out some information about someone else and when she refused he attacked her.

The relative said: "Our main concern is to make sure she’s okay. We’re worried. I’m scared myself.

"We do not know whether we can go out with children in case he knows we’re family. She’s the first girl ever to get stabbed in our family.

"Our family’s not like that. She’s just a loud, bubbly girl, who has friends, lots of friends and is very happy.

"She’s a very popular girl, but I just can’t explain why this happened.”

The relative added: "Her baby niece is crawling into her room asking where she is. She shouldn’t be seeing things like this.

"We’re not sure we’re safe going out now. We’re really scared.

"Who will protect us once the police have gone?”

"How do I know she’s safe to go to the shop?”

"We were at the hospital all night crying. The scar will never go."
