WOMEN in the Ilkley area are being urged take up invitations for breast cancer screening.
Women aged between 50 and 70, registered at Addingham, Ilkley Moor and Grassington Medical Practices, Ilkley and Wharfedale Medical Practice and Grange Park Surgery, will be automatically invited to attend a mobile screening at Booths supermarket. Women aged between 47 to 50 and 70 to 73 may also be called for their screening mammogram.
A spokeswoman for Pennine Breast Screening said:”Breast Cancer affects 1 in 8 women and here at Pennine Breast Screening we are keen to raise awareness of the importance of attending your mammogram, as early detection saves lives. A mammogram can find disease in the breast up to two years before you can feel or see it yourself making treatment options simpler and easier.”
