NEARLY 40 residents have attended a public meeting about a 55-home development at Pool-in-Wharfedale.

The event, held at the Memorial Hall on July 29, saw Leeds City Council officers answer a range of questions about the Taylor Wimpey scheme for land south of Pool Road, behind Church Close.

The scheme, which will include an access road, was granted outline planning permission - at appeal - last June and a Reserved Matters proposal is currently with Leeds City Council.

The meeting, chaired by Councillor Barry Anderson (Con, Adel & Wharfedale), saw residents raising concerns about everything from the potential impact on traffic and air quality to specifics about issues like the new road and drainage.

Officers said that the road would be a single carriageway and of 'good quality', while 35 per cent of the housing would be affordable - divided equally between being available for rent and for purchase.
