A WHARFEDALE politician is in the running for a national award.
Alex Sobel (Lab, Leeds North West) has been nominated for the People’s Choice MP of the Year Awards 2019. The awards are run by The Patchwork Foundation to recognise the work of MPs in their constituencies, and the winner will be decided through an online public vote.
This is the latest in a string of nominations for Mr Sobel, who has been put forward twice for the ‘Greenest MP’ award - while his senior caseworker won a Parliamentary Staffer of the Year award.
He said: “I am proud to have been recognised for the work we are doing to try to make Leeds North West, as well as the country and our environment, a better place.” Votes can be cast at https://patchworkfoundation.org.uk/votes-now-open-for-the-peoples-choice-mp-of-the-year-awards/ .
