A LOCAL Parliamentary candidate has hailed the Liberal Democrats’ by-election win in Wales.
The Lib Dems won the Brecon and Radnorshire seat last week when the party’s Welsh leader, Jane Dodds, overturned the Conservative Party’s previous majority of more than 8,000.
The Lib Dem Parliamentary candidate for Leeds North West, Kamran Hussain, said the result - which cut the Tories’ working majority to just one - could have far-reaching implications.
He said: “The victory is a turning point for the UK. People have been desperately crying out for a different kind of politics and have turned to the Liberal Democrats.
“This was not only a blow to Boris Johnson and his no-deal Brexit plans - it reminded people that the Liberal Democrats are the only party that can provide the opposition that is required.
“The people of Brecon and Radnorshire have shown that the country doesn’t have to settle for Boris Johnson or Jeremy Corbyn. Here in Leeds North West, the people will at some point have an opportunity to reject both by voting for the Liberal Democrats.”
